Lakers are interested in trading for Jazz G. Collin Sexton

The Utah Jazz continue to get interest in their players as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Los Angeles Lakers have been the subject of several rumours linking them to a number of players across the league. No matter how high or low the price, LA is always a strong contender to make a move during this period.

The Lakers appear to be interested in one of the Utah Jazz's most productive players this season.

Right now, their top trade target appears to be Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, who would provide them with a quick scoring guard who can also assist and defend. However, the price for him could be high. ESPN's Dave McMenamin claimed on Wednesday that Los Angeles is also considering targeting Washington Wizards' Tyus Jones and Utah Jazz's Collin Sexton.

Along with Sexton, Los Angeles appears to be interested in Dejounte Murray and Tyus Jones to bolster their guard depth.

While the Lakers may be interested in Sexton, it is easy to understand why: he is extremely talented. Collin has been lights out for Utah since solidifying his status as a nightly starter, rising to become the team's secondary offensive option during its recent winning streak.

Sexton has averaged 21.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 18 games as a starter, with an impressive 52.2/41.5/90.8 efficiency rating.

Sexton's addition might help the Lakers fill some major voids in their roster by giving a dependable go-to perimeter scorer. However, considering LA's asset collection, a feasible package to purchase him may not be attainable.

Sexton has the highest value he's had since entering the league on a highly team-friendly contract, and he's also contributed to a tremendous run of wins. To get Sexton out of Salt Lake City, a really tempting offer would be required, and Los Angeles is unlikely to be able to give such a package. Their draft picks are less than outstanding, and the team lacks any standout young talent.

The Jazz are now on a six-game winning streak, which has helped them climb the Western Conference standings. If the success continues, the prospect of Utah becoming a huge seller in the coming weeks will lose traction.

As for the Lakers, they land at a 21-21 record for 10th in the West, so there is a great chance you see them pull the trigger on some deadline acquisition as a market buyer. But, as it pertains to Utah, do not have any high hopes for Sexton repping the purple and gold anytime soon.
