One cannot discuss boxing without discussing Mike Tyson. At the age of 20, "Iron Mike" made history as the youngest heavyweight champion. He went on to win multiple titles and is regarded as one of the best fighters of all time. Tyson's life, both inside and outside of the ring, has been eventful. Mike Tyson was born June 30, 1966, in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York. After Tyson's father abandoned the family, they relocated to Brownsville, Brooklyn, where Tyson grew up surrounded by crime.

Mike Tyson's mother died in 1979, while he was only sixteen. At the time, Tyson had discovered boxing and was taken under the wing of trainer Cus D'Amato, who became a father figure.

Mike Tyson is a short, stocky fighter with incredible explosive punching power. He is well-known for his unique peek-a-boo boxing style.



 

In 1987, "Iron Mike" defended his championship against James Smith and Tony Tucker, making him the undisputed heavyweight champion.

On February 11, 1990, Mike Tyson lost his first professional boxing battle. Buster Douglas defeated Tyson in Tokyo, Japan.

Mike Tyson regarded his time in prison as "the best three years" of his life. "I had peace. Money means nothing until you have serenity, stability, and balance. To control any aspect of your life, you must maintain your sanity. "I had good food, and everyone was nice to me. They treated me well," he remarked.

Tyson returned to boxing in 1995, defeating Peter McNeeley. A year later, he overcame Frank Bruno and reclaimed the WBC heavyweight title.

 

In 2003, Tyson declared bankruptcy. His financial mismanagement and extravagant spending pushed him into a downward spiral, leaving him in debt for more than US$23 million.

In 2005, the former undisputed heavyweight champion declared his retirement from boxing.

Tyson's podcast 'Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson' premiered in 2019. He welcomes people from many areas of life, including athletes, musicians, and celebrities.
