A possible "Jeopardy!" contestant: What exactly is Emma Stone?
At least, that's what the 35-year-old, a die-hard fan of the long-running game show, is hoping for.
"I apply every June," Stone remarked on Thursday's episode of Variety's "Awards Circuit" podcast, adding that she isn't interested in competing on "Celebrity Jeopardy!," a simplified version of the quiz show that allows famous participants to earn money for their favourite charity.
"I really want to earn my stripes," Stone explained. "I would like to go on real 'Jeopardy!'"
But it's no easy task. Contestants on "Jeopardy!" must apply, test, then wait a long time to find out their fate.
"Every June, I take the quiz, and they don't tell you how you did," an internet-based "La La Land" singer/songwriter remarked. "They just say, 'We'll let you know in the next nine to 12 months if you got on the show.'"
"And guess what," Stone added. "I haven't gotten on the show."
However, the Academy Award-winning actress is not given up. She works on her trivia skills every night, hoping to hear back from the show on her next attempt.
"I watch it every single night and I mark down how many answers I get right," he remarked. "And I swear, I could go on 'Jeopardy!'"
Contestants on the syndicated game show, which has been airing since 1964, answer three rounds of questions divided into six themed categories.
Following the passing of renowned presenter Alex Trebek, former "Jeopardy!" champion Ken Jennings has taken over as host. Many episodes were hosted by actress Mayim Bialik, who has since left the cast.
