Here Are All the Winners of the 2024 Tony Awards: Complete Winners List

'The Outsiders' won best musical; 'Stereophonic' won best play.

The Outsiders was an unexpected winner for best musical at the 2024 Tony Awards, held on Sunday (June 16). The award appeared to be a toss-up between Suffs, a musical on the American women's suffrage struggle, and Hell's Kitchen, a musical partially based on Alicia Keys' early life and singing.

Stereophonic, a musical play by David Adjmi, was won Best Play.

The 77th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Ariana DeBose for the third year in a row, aired live on both coasts from the David H. Koch Theatre at Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts in New York City on Sunday, June 16 on CBS. The show was also available on Paramount+ in the United States.

Stereophonic was the year's most decorated show, receiving five Tony Awards. It was followed by The Outsiders and a revival of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along, both with four awards.

Appropriate, The Outsiders, and Suffs had three wins each, followed by Hell's Kitchen with two, and Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, An Enemy of the People, The Great Gatsby, Illinoise, Jaja's African Hair Braiding, and Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cottom Patch with one each.

Water for Elephants was rejected despite seven nominations. Despite receiving four nominations apiece, Here Lies Love, Mary Jane, and Mother Play were all passed over.

Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, and White Cherry Entertainment collaborated to present the Tony Awards. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss were showrunners and executive producers for White Cherry Entertainment, with Weiss serving as director. Jack Sussman was also an executive producer.
